CHESANING, MI — Trent Vondrasek officially declares his candidacy for the District 6 seat on the Saginaw County Board of Commissioners.

“With the very important millage’s coming to the ballot I feel it necessary to break the actual costs down for all of us in Saginaw County, and give the voters the decision making rights. The current Commissioner voted not to put them on the ballot (in  which he failed)  in an attempt to silence our voices. As your commissioner I will always let the people decide when it comes to millage’s. I am also a firm believer in our Labor Unions. The Right to Work legislation and the repeal of the Prevailing Wage is an attack on our Labor Unions and a race to the bottom. As your Commissioner I will fight against those that wish to strip our Labor Unions of power.”

Vondrasek is a resident of Chesaning and currently serves as a Trustee on the Village Council. He grew up in the area and graduated from Chesaning Union High School in 1985. He has worked in the automotive industry for much of his career. When the 2008 recession hit, his position was eliminated and he found himself out of work. He took this opportunity to complete his associate’s degree from Lansing Community College (LCC) as a non-traditional student. He graduated in 2009 with a degree in political science.

He is employed by Computer Aid Incorporated (CAI), which is contracted by the State of Michigan to manage the Information Technology vendor network. As the Program Manager it is his primary responsibility to serve the State of Michigan Agencies and manage more than 350 vendors.

“I have worked on the farm, in hospitality, in the automotive industry, and now in Information Technology. With the automotive crisis of 2008 I had to take jobs at far lower wage just to feed my family. I have worked Blue Collar to White Collar jobs, working a variety of positions for a paycheck and others to follow a passion. It is these life experiences that will help me to give a voice to all when elected,” stated Vondrasek.

When he is not working he enjoys time with family and volunteering in his community. He is a member of the Saginaw County Democrats, Ducks Unlimited, St. Peter Parish of Chesaning, and volunteers for a local nonprofit, Living Proof Together Foundation, to help families fighting cancer.
